Allergies:
Allergy is a chronic condition of
the immune system in which the body shows hypersensitivity or unexpected
reaction to an allergen in the environment.
Allergen: If an object or material
shows a hypersensitive reaction in a person's body, then those objects or
materials are allergens for those people.
Allergic Reaction: Unexpected
reactions observed in the body when the body comes in contact with an allergen
are called allergic reactions. It is also called hypersensitivity reaction.
Hypersensitivity reactions can be divided into four types, but among the four
types, type-1 hypersensitivity will be discussed here.
A hypersensitivity reaction of the
body to an allergen is called a type one hypersensitivity reaction. What we
normally understand as an allergy basically refers to a type one
hypersensitivity reaction.
Common allergic reactions:
Allergic Rhinitis: Often seen, some
people start to cough after getting wet in the rain, bathing in a pool, going
to dust, getting a little cold or drinking a cold drink. And if others do the
same things, nothing happens to them.
So it is understood that rain water,
dust, pond water or cold water act as allergen for some and for some it is
normal. Allergic rhinitis is a common cold and cough in those who act as
allergens to these normal substances.
Allergic rhinitis usually affects
the mucous membranes of the respiratory system and due to the effect of
histamine, a large amount of mucus is produced from there. The respiratory
system produces a substance called leukotriene that stimulates the respiratory
system to produce cough. Then we realized that runny nose and cold cough, along
with mild body temperature, may be due to allergic rhinitis. Sometimes
rhinovirus acts as an allergen.
Allergic conjunctivitis or eye
allergy:
Allergic conjunctivitis is basically
an allergic disease of the eye. During this time the eyes are red. Tears from
the eyes, pain. It is more common in children aged 6 to 12 years. Allergic
conjunctivitis, like allergic rhinitis, can occur in people who react
abnormally to certain allergens.
Some children may experience red,
watery and painful itchy eyes after swimming in a pool or playing sports or
going outside. These are mainly due to allergic conjunctivitis.
Food Allergy: Many people start
itching on meat or eggplant or foreign food. Nausea occurs. These are mainly
due to allergies. Their bodies are not adapted to those foods and those foods,
though normal to others, act as allergens for them. So when they eat those
foods, the whole body becomes itchy and red. Then you have to understand that
meat is an allergen for him.
Drug Allergy: Some people experience
an itchy red rash after taking an antibiotic. Then it should be understood that
he has hypersensitivity to that antibiotic and that antibiotic is acting as an
allergen for him. If this happens to someone, then he should change that
antibiotic and use another antibiotic. If a hypersensitivity reaction occurs due
to the use of a medicine, then that type of allergy is called drug allergy.
Anaphylactic Reaction: Anaphylactic
reaction is a type of emergency allergic condition. Imagine that someone has
contact with an insect or is bitten by a small mosquito or other insect and
after a while it is seen that his body has a red rash. The body is very itchy.
Whole body aches. These conditions are called anaphylactic reactions. In the
case of hypersensitive people, an anaphylactic reaction may occur in mosquito
bites or insect bites.
Atopic Eczema: A type of allergic skin
condition. Which is due to allergic reaction.
Treatment: First of all, it is good
to know that there is no permanent treatment for allergies. Because it has to
do with the immune system. So it is better to avoid those things or foods that
are allergic to them. And those who develop allergic symptoms due to
uncontrolled movement can control it with medicine.
Medication: As Histamine is released a lot in allergy, so if
you want to control allergy, you have to control Histamine and for that,
Antihistamine is the main treatment of allergy in allergic condition. However,
taking any treatment other than doctor's advice or alternative treatment can be
dangerous in the treatment of allergies. It is best to contact the nearest
doctor or hospital directly for any physical problem.
